DIRECTOR OF TRACK AND FIELD/ CROSS COUNTRY MIKE SMITH'S COMMENTS:
"This is out third year coming out here to Irvine for spring break and once again the weather is ideal and we got a nice start to the outdoor season. The competition was pretty good all-around and we had some really good marks. Our men's relay teams ran some outstanding early season marks today and the guys looked good. The 4x100 was particularly good, given that we haven't really been able to practice those handoffs outside yet. Trevor Touchton picked up right where he left off indoors in winning the 800 meter today. He has been getting better and better all year and has a lot of tools in his tool box at this point. He is going to put together some nice races this spring."
"I was impressed with our sprint crew today. The 200 meter was pretty good and the 100 meter was very strong. Ben Sims and Kevin Dyer are quite a bit ahead of where they were last year at this time. Both of those guys have some pretty lofty goals and today's start sets them up for the big meets that are looming. In the field, the guys in the discus had some nice marks and put together a good series. We are looking forward to a good week of training. The forecast is calling for warm sunny weather so I think we will get a lot done out there this week."
UP NEXT: Army will continue action on the West Coast as they take part in the Spring Break Invitational hosted by U.C., Irvine on the 17th and 18th in Irvine, Calif.
