Cadets Top Springfield on the Road

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Led by the team's performance on vault, the Army West Point gymnastics team topped Springfield 395.30-387.45 on the road Sunday afternoon.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- The Black Knights improved to 4-4 on the year with today's win.
- Army outscored the Pride in every event apart from the floor exercise. Its top performance was in the vault with a team total of 69.00.
- Three gymnasts notched scores of 14.00 or higher on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ryan Wilson and Seth Cannon shared first-place honors on the vault as they both posted marks of 14.250.
- Elijah-Ty Phelps was Army's top performer on the pommel horse with a score of 13.350 to place second. He was followed by Andre Hufnagel (13.300) and Rex Scott (12.200).
- On the rings, Wilson turned out a team-leading 13.650 to place third. Nathan Goff was close behind with 13.400 points.
- The parallel bars featured Goff's 13.900 as he championed the event. Nick McAfee was second with marks of 13.150.
- Leo Genders soared above the rest on high bar with a 14.050, 0.250 higher than the next-best finisher which was Goff (13.800). He was followed closely by Alejandro Tombrink (13.600) and Cannon (13.200).
UP NEXT
- Army heads to William & Mary next weekend for a tri-meet with the Tribe and Springfield. It will be the second time facing William & Mary this season and the fourth time seeing the Pride.
