HAMMOND, La. – The Army West Point softball team dropped a 7-0 decision to Southern Illinois in its fourth of five games and the Lion Classic on Sunday morning at North Oak Park.

Army falls to 0-4 on the year, while Southern Illinois moves to 3-2.

Sophomore Nena Riccoboni led the Black Knights by hitting 2-for-3 in the game, while sophomores Izzy Gates and Ashley Yoo, and freshman Lacey Swafford all recorded single hits.

Senior Caroline Smith pitched six and two-thirds innings in her second start of the season, while freshman Macey Newbary worked one-third of an inning.

Hale Andrus and Merri Anne Patterson each drove in three runs to lead the Salukis, while Patterson and Susie Baranski both picked up a pair of hits. Andrus, Patterson and Sydney Jones all hit home runs in the contest. Savanna Dover pitched all seven innings and struck out nine.

- Williams drove home four runs with one swing of the bat on a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the second inning to give UT Martin a 5-1 lead.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Andrus ripped a three-run home run with two outs in the top of the first inning to give Southern Illinois an early lead.
- Andrus' homer drove in Baranski and Shaye Harre.
- Jones knocked a solo home run with one down in the fourth inning to increase the Salukis' advantage to 4-0.
- Patterson hit the second three-run home run of the game for Southern Illinois, with a long ball in the top of the seventh inning to score Baranski and Bailee Pulley.
