Black Knights Topped by Nebraska
October 21, 2017 | Rifle
Lincoln, Neb. -Â The No. 12 Army West Point rifle team fell by a thin margin of one point, 4631-4630, to No. 15 Nebraska in a tough match on Saturday morning. Â
The Black Knights dropped to 1-3 on the season, while the Huskers improved to 1-1.
Â
Coach's Quotes:
"This was a little disappointing," said head coach Web Wright. "We didn't shoot very well and lost by a point. Clayton and Payne shot pretty well in smallbore. As a team, we struggled in kneeling and that set a bit of a disappointing tone. That's clearly something we are going to work on.Â
Â
"Air rifle was a little better. Once again, Payne came through for us. Kaitlyn also shot well leading the team with a 589."
Â
"We will head back to West Point and get back to training. I think CEP is going to continue to a big focus. I know we have the talent. I have seen everyone on the team shoot phenomenal scores in practice. We just need to bring it out when it counts."
AGGREGATE (4630)
SMALLBOREÂ (2293)
AIR RIFLE (2337)
Â
UP NEXT:
The Black Knights will head to Annapolis, Md., to participate in the annual Presidents Match against service academy rivals Navy and Air Force on Nov. 4th. Â
