Gahagen Picks up Goalie of the Month Accolades

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After posting a 4-1-1 record in the month of December, senior Parker Gahagen of the Army West Point hockey team was recognized as the Atlantic Hockey Goalie of the Month for the second time this season.

The Buffalo, N.Y., native is riding a four-game unbeaten streak, the longest of his career, and notched a career-high 48 saves against Colgate on Saturday night.

Gahagen allowed just eight goals in December for a goals against average of 1.32. He also boasted 189 stops last month to give him a .959 save percentage.

This season, Gahagen leads the nation in shutouts with four. He ranks third in the nation with a .943 saves percentage, and in goals against average at 1.66. The Black Knights' defense has also been successful and is second nationally, allowing just 1.78 goals per game. Gahagen also backs the team's penalty kill unit which has the second-best kill rate in the country at .899.

The Black Knights return to league action this weekend in Massachusetts. Army will face Bentley on Thursday night for Frozen Fenway at 7:30 p.m. The Cadets will then take on the Falcons at the Ryan Skating Arena on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. start.
