Sullenger Earns AAA Athlete of the Week Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army women's soccer player Samantha Sullenger was named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week after her two-goal performance over the weekend.
The Gaithersburg, Md., native scored Army's game-winner to hand the Black Knights their second victory of the season Sunday against Fairleigh Dickinson. Following a corner kick, Sullenger fired a well-driven shot but was saved by the Knights goalie. Fortunately for the sophomore, the rebound fell right back at her foot, where she tapped it home into the left-hand corner of the net.
The midfielder added her second tally and Army's final score in the 79th minute when she finished off a free kick. Teammate Clare Shea sent a brilliant cross into the back of the box, where Sullenger was waiting. She then one-timed the ball into the left corner for her third career marker.
Army is back in action Saturday when it hosts Lafayette at 7 p.m. on Clinton Field. Live stats and video are available at the start.
