Hofstra Tops Men’s Soccer on Second-Half Goal

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra added the game's only goal in the 68th minute to pick up a 1-0 victory over the Army West Point men's soccer team on Saturday evening at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
The Black Knights drop their third match in a row to slip to 1-3 on the year, while the Pride improve to 2-2-1 overall.
Danny Elliott netted his first goal of the season for Hofstra in the 68th minute, finishing a high shot after receiving a pass from Joseph Holland.

- Hofstra tops Army for the second season in a row and improves to 3-1 in the all-time series. The Pride's win over the Cadets in 2015 also came in a 1-0 decision.
- Junior Christian Nolasco returned to the starting 11 after freshman Justin Stoll started the game against Marist on Sept. 4.
- Nolasco played the full 90 minutes and registered a career-best five saves. His five stops are the most by an Army keeper this season.
- The Pride owned a 17-3 advantage in shots and led by a 6-1 margin in shots on target.
- Senior Nick Williams played in the 60th game of his career on Saturday and leads all active Army players with the most career appearances.
- Hofstra's 1-0 win comes as the first shutout against Army this year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elliott received a pass from Holland down the side of the field before sprinting past an Army defender and scoring high on the right side in the 68th minute for the only goal of the match.
