Maui Jim Maui Invitational Highlights Black Knights Out-Of-Conference Slate
2016-17 Men's Basketball Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point Men's Basketball has slated a tough 2016-17 schedule, which features an appearance in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
"We are excited about our schedule for the upcoming season," head coach Jimmy Allen said. "With the graduation of a deep senior class we have a young group that is looking to find itself and gain valuable experience. Our non-conference games should really test us and help us grow as a team."
On the docket are eight teams who made the postseason just a season ago, four of which who made the NCAA tournament (Oregon, Chattanooga, Fairleigh Dickinson and Holy Cross).
Army plays 12 non-conference games before beginning Patriot League play on Dec. 30.
The regular season kicks off at the Maui Jim Maui Invitational where Army travels to Eugene, Ore., to meet up with the reigning Pac-12 champions Oregon on Nov. 11.
The Black Knights return to West Point to open their home out-of-conference slate with a contest against Mount Saint Mary's (N.Y.) on Nov. 15. Army is then the host site for two additional Maui Invitational games on Nov. 19 and 20. The featured opponents are either Chattanooga, Central Arkansas, or a third team to be named later.
On Nov. 23, Army travels into New York City for a meeting with Columbia. Three days later the Black Knights find themselves on the road again at Fairfield on Nov. 26.
Army then welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 30), St. Francis Brooklyn (Dec. 3), and service academy rival Air Force (Dec. 7) for a three-game home stand in Christl Arena.
The Black Knights head back on the road for their final two away non-conference games at Monmouth and St. Bonaventure on Dec. 10 and Dec. 19, respectively.
One last home non-league game against Binghamton on Dec. 21 prepares the Black Knights for the start of the Patriot League season, which kicks off on Dec. 30 when Army hosts Lehigh.
All ten Patriot League schools are scheduled to play each other twice throughout the course of the season. The Patriot League Tournament will have an opening round of games starting Feb. 28. Quarterfinals are set for March 2, with semifinals on March 5. The Championship game is scheduled for March 8.
A number of games have time and television designations still to be determined.
