Women’s Rugby Places Second at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Army West Point women's rugby team earned a runner-up finish for the second-consecutive weekend, this time at the Bowdoin 7s tournament on Saturday.
The tournament started with a thrilling 17-12 victory over Norwich for the third time in four tries this spring. Scores against the Cadets came from Kirsten Redmon, Chioma Odocha and Lindy Clark with Clark adding the extra two points on a conversion.
Back-to-back shutouts followed against UMass (33-0) and Boston U. (32-0). Becca Stipp and Zye Crittington, who led the Black Knights offense on the day with 20 points apiece, each scored 10 points against the Minutemen and Terriers.
Army advanced to the championship match for the second-consecutive week, but was unable to solve AIC again as the Yellow Jackets won 29-5.
On the day, Stipp and Crittington led the offensive charge with 20 points each, while Clark scored the third-most points with 12. Carissa Pekny added 11 points and Kaeleigh Warfield accounted for nine. Odocha, Redmon and Mackenzie Garner each dotted down once.
Army will conclude its spring 7s season next week by hosting the ACRA 7s Championships at Anderson Rugby Complex on Saturday, April 30.
