December 08, 2016 | Football, Women's Swimming and Diving, Athletics
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Center for Enhanced Performance has named football's Kenneth Brinson and swimming and diving's Kelly Hamilton as its Corps Squad Scholars for the month of November.
Kenneth Brinson consistently performs at a high level academically. So far after his plebe year he carries a 4.046 CQPA. As of today for AY17-1, CDT Brinson has a 3.90 for his grades nearing the 15 week mark.
He continues to perform at the highest level while also devoting a significant time to athletics as a starter for the Army Defense at Outside Linebacker. Even though, Brinson is not required to attend the Army Football team's evening study halls, he attends every night they are offered and offers his expertise as a tutor for other players. Undoubtedly, his hard work and academic success has helped others on the team to succeed.
Brinson is a defensive impact player for Army and Brinson currently has good military standing and he received a B for his MD grade at 15 week grades.
Kelly Hamilton truly embodies the ideal of a scholar, athlete, and leader. She excels in the classroom in the highly selective and competitive Kinesiology major, earning an overall academic GPA of 3.737 and sustaining no lower than a 3.656 academic GPA her entire cadet career.
However, Kelly is so much more than a scholar. She also performs in the pool, having been a member of several record-breaking relay teams, has been selected as a member of the All-Patriot League First Team, and she holds the Academy and Plebe records in the 100-yard Backstroke event. Most importantly, Kelly has distinguished herself as a leader among her teammates and peers in the Corps of Cadets. As the co-captain of the women's swimming and diving team, Kelly consistently sets the example as a hard-working and dedicated athlete while cultivating a constructive team culture and environment that focuses on individual development and building towards collective success.
Additionally, she currently holds the position of 3rd Regiment's Executive Officer. Kelly demonstrates the values of "Duty, Honor, Country" in everything that she does, both in and out of the pool. She demands nothing but excellence from herself and those around her.
"Kelly has distinguished herself as a leader among her teammates and peers in the Corps of Cadets," said swimming and diving head coach Mickey Wender. "As the co-captain of the women's wwimming and diving team, Kelly consistently sets the example as a hard-working and dedicated athlete while cultivating a constructive team culture and environment that focuses on individual development focused towards collective success. Additionally, she currently holds the position of 3rd Regiment's Executive Officer."
