Army West Point Athletics
Day Three of Bowl Prep In the Books
December 24, 2016 | Football
DALLAS -Â The Army West Point football team was back on the gridiron Saturday morning for its third bowl practice before the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl on Tuesday.
Â
The Black Knights continued to use Southern Methodist University's grass field for its practice session. The sun finally started to peak through the clouds as well Saturday after the team had seen some lower temperatures the first two days. Â Â
Â
As usual, practice started out with drills for special teams. The Cadets then transitioned into individual positional groups before breaking up into offense and defense. During the 1-v-1 segment, Gibby Gibson made a great defensive play on Christian Drake. The sophomore made a diving catch to intercept a loose ball after he initially batted it away from his fellow classmate. Practice concluded with a small scrimmage in which the top offense went against the scout team.
Â
After practice head coach Jeff Monken, junior quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw and senior captains Andrew King and Jeremy Timpf addressed the media at the Cotton Bowl for the bowl's annual press conference.
Â
The players then joined the rest of their teammates to work on their golf game at Top Golf Dallas. A highlight during the outing was Quinten Parker competing in a distance competition with professional golfer Andrew Frakes, who just happened to be in attendance.
A nice team dinner will wrap up an exciting Saturday down here in Texas.
Sunday's practice is pushed back an hour and will kick off at 11:30 a.m. Monken's group will then have a team event and dinner before enjoying the remainder of the holiday with family and friends who are nearby.
