MOREHEAD, Ky. – Senior Marvin Lewis fired a career-high 593 in air rifle, just four points off the school record, and classmate Danielle Cuomo led the way in smallbore as both earned medalist honors leading the Army West Point rifle team (2-2) to a 4640-4614 victory over Morehead State Sunday.

The Black Knights swept both disciplines, along with claiming the top two individuals in each, posting a 2289 to the Eagles' 2279 in smallbore while besting them behind a season-high 2351 mark in air rifle to Morehead State's 2335.

Lewis set the pace for the No. 16 Black Knights over the weekend, recording Army's top scores in both disciplines Saturday against No. 6 Kentucky, then claimed first place in air rifle against the Eagles at the Bolton Rifle Range on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN AIR RIFLE:

Lewis shattered his previous high 591 fired last year against North Carolina State after besting the field with a 593, two points ahead of classmate Danielle Cuomo's career 591.
Freshman Madeline Erikson followed with a season-high 585 for fourth place as Army placed three in the top four spots.
Sophomore Payne Nunn rounded out Army's firing unit posting a 574 in placing seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN SMALLBORE

Cuomo was the top shooter in this discipline with a 580 with Payne placing second (574).
Sophomore Nathan Brewer was fourth (571) with Lewis (564) completing the four-man firing unit.

AGGREGATE SCORING

Army swept the top three in the overall scoring and had four finish among the top five.
Cuomo led with an 1171 aggregate (580 SB /591 AR) followed by Lewis' 1157 (564 SB/593 AR).
Nunn was just a point behind Lewis with an 1156 in placing third (574 SB/582 AR).
Brewer placed fifth with an 1152 (571 SB/581 AR).

COACH'S COMMENTS:

"I am really pleased with today's air rifle results. Marvin Lewis had a personal record as did Danielle Cuomo.
"But smallbore was not up the level that it should be. We all know we have more in us than what we posted.
"We are going to hit the range and get ready for the President's Cup this coming weekend. We have a couple of things to work on, mainly kneeling and overall consistency."
