Men’s Cross Country Set to Face Navy in Star Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's cross country team travels to Annapolis, Md., on Saturday for its annual Star Meet against Navy as part of the Star Series presented by USAA. The race is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
The 2016 meet will mark the 79th all-time meeting in the storied rivalry between the two academies. Both Army and Navy raced at Lehigh's Paul Short Run back on Oct. 1, with the Midshipmen placing sixth and the Black Knights finishing 11th.
ARMY (1-0, 0-0 Patriot League)
• The Black Knights' last win at Navy came in 2008 as they edged the Mids, 27-28.
• Army's best times came at last week's Paul Short Run, with the top five finishing between 24:34-25:18.
• Senior Jacob Fong has paced the Black Knights, scoring in the team's top three in each meet this season.
• Junior Johnny Valeri is the only other Cadet to score in all three meets this season.
• Freshmen Robbie Santoyo and Ben Petrella have contributed early in their collegiate careers, placing in Army's top five in two meets this year.
NAVY (0-0, 0-0 Patriot League)
• The Mids ran their best race at the Paul Short Run, with their top five finishing between 24:07-24:38.
• Senior Lucas Stalnaker has been Navy's top runner in each of the three races he participated in this season.
• Fellow senior Ryan McCoy has placed in the top three positions for the Mids four times this season, including a pair of top five finishes.
• Junior Corey Donley has finished in a scoring position for Navy in four meets throughout the 2016 season, finishing in the top five two times.
