COACHES COMMENTS
"Our men were 11th in an extremely competitive meet," said Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Mike Smith. "We are getting better both indivdually and as a program. Today we had five guys under 25 minutes on a race course that my teams have run many times and this is the first time that has ever happened. We ran as well as we could today and I am pleased with the improvements on the course. It was an outstanding field with ranked teams from across the country. We beat some teams we thought we could beat, and we finished about where we were expected to finish. We would have liked to surprise some ranked teams but we are not quite their yet. We are going to keep working to improve for the upcoming meet against Navy."
CADET-ATHLETE COMMENTS
"I think it was a good test for the whole team," said team captain Matt Bearden"I personally went out a little conservative and kept grinding as the race went on. Our freshman showed a lot of promise as the race went on and developed. We had the best finish that we have had at this course in the four years that I have been here. Our times show that we are a young squad, but it also shows how strong this young team is. Their ability to learn and adapt to the courses and races is incredible and I am excited to continue to see them grow."
