WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point senior guard Jean Parker was named Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week on Monday after helping the Black Knights to a pair of victories last week, including a 75-38 win in the Star Game against Navy.
The AAA honor is Parker's first of the season and the third of her career.
Parker began the week with an eight-point effort in Army's 77-58 win versus Holy Cross on Jan. 20. She was successful on 3-of-6 shots from the field to include a 2-of-5 showing from three-point range.
The Portland, Ore., native tallied 15 points in the victory over Navy on Jan. 23 and was instrumental in the Black Knights' commanding 16-2 start to the contest. Parker sank a pair of threes 2:03 into the game to give Army an 8-2 lead that helped kick off a 16-2 run to open the first quarter.
She added eight points in the second period before contributing 10 more in the third quarter. Parker shot 6-of-8 overall on the afternoon, including 3-of-5 from deep. The contest marked Parker's second career Star Game with at least three triples, after she hit four in the 2014 Star Game on Feb. 8, 2014.
Parker enters the week third in the Patriot League with a three-point shooting percentage of 44.7 and ranks tied for sixth in the conference with 1.9 three-pointers per game.
Army (16-2 overall, 7-1 Patriot League) is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 30, when the Black Knights host first-place Bucknell (14-5, 8-0) at 1 p.m.
