Army West Point Athletics
Feature Friday: Army Basketball Meets MSG
January 22, 2016 | Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Athletics
Feature Friday highlights the tremendous personal stories our coaches and cadet-athletes have to share on a weekly basis. Each Friday, a new feature story will be prominently highlighted on GoArmyWestPoint.com. The features will include multi-media pieces, as well as written stories by media outlets and the Army West Point athletic communications staff.
Saturday, Jan. 23, will be a special day for both the Academy and for the cadet-athletes. To be able to play in the World's Most Famous Arena is something every kid dribbling a basketball dreams about and our cadet-athletes get to make that a reality as USAA presents Army-Navy Basketball at Madison Square Garden.
Â
Army-Navy Basketball begins at 11:30 a.m. with the women's contest, before the men's teams take the court for a 2 p.m. tipoff.
Â
The Army men have seven seniors, who will take part in their final Star Game against the Midshipmen, including Tanner Plomb, who leads the team with 21.8 points per game. The women carry five seniors, led by Kelsey Minato, who comes into the weekend with a Patriot League-leading 23.4 points per game.
Â
The Black Knights' men's program last competed at the World's Most Famous Arena in 1986 and the women's team was last there for the Maggie Dixon Classic in 2008.
