Football Meets Penn State in Happy Valley
October 01, 2015 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team tries to win its second consecutive road game when it travels to University Park, Pa., for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Penn State at Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and the game will be broadcast by ESPNU.
On the call for the game will be Anish Shroff (play-by-play) and Ahmad Brooks (color analyst). Saturday's game can also be heard on the radio via the Army Sports Network.
"It was nice to see us put the whole thing together and get some key stops when we needed them on defense," head coach Jeff Monken said at his weekly media availability. "We made some plays on offense to set up some scores and we made some plays on special teams to keep drives alive. There were some things that we'll need to work on and improve. It was nice for those kids, who have been playing really, really hard, to experience a victory. We were in desperate need of having that feeling of victory and I was glad they were able to do that.
Winning on the road was no picnic. It's been quite some time since we've done that. But we're playing better and we're improving as a football team. We'll certainly need to continue to do that this week. We'll need to play our very best football to have a chance to be in the game. We're going to prepare our football team for Saturday and we're looking forward to the opportunity to play in such a special setting and a stadium that's renowned for its great crowds."
The Black Knights are now 1-3 on the season after racking up 654 yards of total offense in the 58-36 win at Eastern Michigan's Rynearson Stadium.
