Women’s Rugby Drops 33-3 Decision to Lindenwood

STATE COLLEGE, PA. – The Army West Point women's rugby team fell in its first contest of the 2015-16 season to fourth-ranked Lindenwood, succumbing to a 33-3 decision from State College, Pa., on Friday night.

Nicole Heavirland scored the only points of the evening for the Black Knights, recording a penalty kick in the 20th minute of action.

Lindenwood posted a penalty kick to tie the game just moments later and held the Black Knights off of the scoresheet for the remainder of the game.

The Lions entered the game averaging 131 points per game, blowing past Northern Iowa 132-0 and Indiana 130-0.

With the loss, Army falls to 3-1 on the season, still posting an unblemished 3-0 record in conference action. The Cadets will have Saturday off before returning to the pitch on Sunday at 9 a.m. to face the nation's top team and host Penn State.
