Cadet Chain of Command Announced

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The chain of command for the U.S. Corps of Cadets has been announced and includes a strong group of varsity athletes.

Eight cadet-athletes were selected to leadership positions and will assume their duties Aug. 10. The list includes men's rugby firsties Cameron Hargis, Donald Goff and Andrew Borer; women's soccer forward Katie Holder; women's track standout Lindsay Gabow; women's basketball tandem Bridget Ryan and Kelsey Minato; and sprint football captain Tucker Van Dyke. Also included in the chain of command is rabble rouser Natalie Reisweber.

Cadet-athletes must apply, be nominated and interviewed for leadership positions among their peers before being appointed by senior staff. Â

Hargis earns the title of 1st Regimental Command Sergeant Major. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native earned two tries in the spring season for the Black Knights as a center on the men's rugby squad. In the fall he earned starts against Cornell and in the upset victory over Penn State.

Goff will serve as the 3rd Regimental Command Sergeant Major. A native of Framingham, Mass., he was also given the honor of serving as the team captain for the men's rugby team. Forced to sit out most of the 2014-15 seasons due to injury, the prop returned to the starting lineup in the spring and recorded a try in the win over Seton Hall.

Borer, a native of Alta Loma, Calif., will take rank as the 4th Regimental Commander. A fullback on the conference champion men's rugby team, he found his way into the starting 15 in the win over Air Force. He tallied two tries and eight conversions as the team's fourth highest point getter in the fall season. In the spring he tied for fourth on the team with a total of 20 points, recording 10 conversions.

Holder earns the title of 3rd Regimental Commander, after serving as "Queen of Beast" for the summer of 2015. A native of Stillwater, Minn., she has earned a bevy of athletic and academic awards in her career with the Black Knights. She has landed on the All-Patriot League list in two of her three seasons, garnering Academic All-Patriot League honors in addition to her distinction as a 2014 Capital One Academic All-District First Team honoree. In three seasons she has tallied 11 goals and four assists in 55 games played.

Gabow was appointed the Brigade S-4 and will have leadership of logistics for the Corps. A Pelham, N.Y., native, Gabow will also serve as the team captain for the cross country and track & field squads for the 2015-16 seasons. A leader on and off the track, Gabow has had a stellar career with the Black Knights, earning an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) title in the 5000m run during the 2015 outdoor season. She is ranks in the top-10 in Academy history in four events and was the Patriot League Champion in the 10,000m run in 2015.

Ryan will hold the position of Brigade Deputy Morale Welfare Recreation Officer during the 2015-16 academic year. Ryan is a native of Scotch Plains, N.J., who majors in Economics. She qualified for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll during all three of her seasons on the women's basketball team, including holding the highest GPA among the conference's women's basketball players as a freshman and sophomore.

Minato, a guard from Huntington Beach, Calif., will serve as the Brigade Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Officer, which oversees all Corps Squad team captains. An Environmental Science major, Minato has started in all 95 games during her first three seasons on the women's basketball team and ranks second in team history with 1,813 points. She is on pace to become Army West Point's career scoring leader and pass Katie Macfarlane's (USMA '04) mark of 1,914 points.

Van Dyke was selected to serve as the Second Regimental Executive Officer in Corps of Cadets' this year. A native of Pond Creek, Okla., Van Dyke is a Law and Legal Studies major who will be a co-captain on the sprint football team during the 2015 season. Van Dyke led all receivers with six touchdowns last season and caught 27 balls for a team-leading 459 yards.

Reisweber, a native of Edmond, Okla., will serve as the Brigade Activities/Sprit Officer.
