Army West Point Athletics
Feature Friday: Kelsey Minato
December 04, 2015 | Women's Basketball, Athletics
Feature Friday highlights the tremendous personal stories our coaches and cadet-athletes have to share on a weekly basis. Each Friday, a new feature story will be prominently highlighted on GoArmyWestPoint.com. The features will include multi-media pieces, as well as written stories by media outlets and the Army West Point athletic communications staff.
Senior Kelsey Minato broke the Army West Point women's basketball team's 11-year-old career scoring record with a 27-point performance at Yale on Dec. 3, 2015. She passed Army Hall-of-Famer Katie Macfarlane's (USMA '04) previous standard of 1,941 points with a lay-up at the 27-second mark of the third period of the Yale game and raised her career total to 1,951 by the end of the night.
A native of Huntington Beach, Calif., Minato scored 20 points in the second half alone to help lead Army to a 65-61 win after the Black Knights trailed by 11 points early in the third period.
