Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Dartmouth Invite
October 11, 2015 | Men's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's tennis team concluded the regular season portion of the fall schedule for 2015 with the conclusion of the Dartmouth Invite on Sunday.
Sophomore Michael Nguyen finished third in the fifth flight of singles play after a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Williams. He also competed in the championship for the second flight of doubles with senior Caison Best, but fell 8-4 to a duo from Dartmouth.
Junior Kyle Barnes finished fourth in the second flight singles after falling to Buffalo in straight 6-2 sets.
"I was very happy with the doubles play this weekend, even though it was a tough loss in the finals for Best and Nguyen," said assistant coach Randy Rowley. "Nguyen was absolutely dominant in his match today. He fought through a tough first set and came back to run away with the second set. It was a good event for us to get a lot of matches in as we prepare for the ITA Regionals in two weeks."
The Black Knights will compete in their last event of the fall with the ITA Regional Championships in New Haven, Conn. Hosted by Yale from Oct. 22-27.
