Army Tallies First Win, Defeats Connecticut 53-5

The Black Knights dominated from the start, as Ashley Mohr scored in the first minute of action and Carissa Pekny was successful on the conversion, giving Army the 7-0 lead. Less than eight minutes later, Kate Roose would score her first of four tries on the evening, giving the Black Kinghts the 12-0 lead.
Roose scored again in the 17th minute and Pekny's kick was good, making it 19-0 in favor of the Black Knights.
The Huskies would score their only points of the game in the 25th minute, cutting the Army lead to 19-5.
Allison Wilson and Roose would each add a score to send the Black Knights into the break leading 29-5.
Army picked up right where it left off in the second half, with Allie McDonald scoring in the 49th minute and Rebecca Stipp adding a try in the 56th with Peky adding the conversion following Stipp's score.
Roose closed out her scoring onslaught with a try in the 64th minute, followed by the final score from Kirsten Redmon 70th minute and a successful kick from Penky.
"It is a pleasure to have been her at UConn," head officer representative Lt. Col. Steve Henderson said. "They have been great hosts and have a beautiful campus. The girls have really come together to play as a team this past week." a
The win is the first for the Black Knights, who improve to 1-0 on the season. They'll return home to face American International College on Sept. 27 in the first of back-to-back home games.
