Women's Soccer Falls To Navy In The Star Match

The loss snapped Army's five-match Patriot League unbeaten string as the Black Knights (7-8-3) closed out conference play with a 4-2-3 mark. The Midshipmen moved to 11-3-5 overall and 6-1-2 in the league.
Army held a slim 5-4 corner kick advantage, but the Midshipmen led 23-5 in shots. Army keeper Jordan Cassalia finished with eight saves, to include denying Navy's Morgan Dankanich on a penalty kick early in the second half.
Navy's Caprice Kelty opened the scoring in the 26th minute on an unassisted goal when she connected on a loose ball inside the six yard line. MacAdam, who booted a game-high five shots, scored 10 minutes later as the Midshipmen took a 2-0 halftime lead.
Shortly after Cassalia pulled up with a save on the penalty kick, Meghan Hegarty padded Navy's lead when she connected on a 15-yard shot in the 50th minute.
Navy pulled ahead 13-11-2 in the series with the last six games even at 3-3-0.
Navy finished the Patriot League regular season with 20 points, and first place in the standings prior to Saturday's final matches. Colgate has 19 points (6-1-1) and Boston University 17 (5-12) with one game remaining. The Raiders take on last place American, and the Terriers face Bucknell.
Army is currently in fourth place in the Patriot League standings with Bucknell fifth with 13 points (4-3-1). A win by by the Bison denies the Terriers from earning a bye to the tournament (top two) and Army fourth place and hosting duties.
