Army To Host Lehigh Friday, Bucknell Saturday

WEST POINT, N.Y. – After four weeks of being idle, the Army swimming and diving teams return to competition this weekend (Jan. 10-11) when the Black Knights finish out their home schedule at Crandall Pool with a pair of Patriot League dual meets. Army will face Lehigh on Friday at 5 p.m., before battling Bucknell on Saturday at 1 p.m with diving set to begin at 12 p.m.

The Army men begin the weekend showing a 2-3 record, while the Black Knight women boast a 1-3 mark. Both teams are 0-1 in the Patriot League after being swept by Navy on Dec. 12.
Army competed last at Lejuene Hall when both teams traveled to Annapolis, Md., where they were bested by academy rival Navy. While Army did not come out on top, the Black Knights followed through with an impressive showing, breaking a combined 12 plebe and academy records.
Plebe Danielle Nuszkowski had three major contributions for the women’s team versus Navy breaking three records, including two academy records with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, a third-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle and a plebe record in the 200 yard freestyle.
Classmate Sean Regan also contributed three record-breaking performances in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events and the 200 medley relay as the Black Knights were swept by Navy in the annual "Star" meet at Leujene Hall.
The Lehigh men, who have been idle since defeating Lafayette (196-92) on Nov. 22, show a 4-2, overall record. The Mountain Hawks are a perfect 2-0 versus Patriot League foes, having knocked off Colgate and Lafayette earlier this season. The Lehigh women, who have also been idle since defeating Lafayette on Nov. 22, show a perfect 5-0 overall record and 2-0 opposite conference teams.
The Bucknell men (5-2, 4-0 PL) began the second semester by dropping to a 172-127 decision at Columbia as the Bucknell women (5-2, 4-0 PL) traveled to Lewisburg Pa., where the Bison fell to Rutgers 184.5-110, last Saturday.
The Army men are a perfect 42-0 all-time versus Lehigh. The Black Knights are also 22-5 all-time opposite Bucknell. The Army women, meanwhile, are 13-6 all-time against the Mountain Hawks and 4-16 all-time versus the Bison. The men defeated both Lehigh and Bucknell on the road while the women’s team suffered loses to both teams last season.
Following this weekend's action, Army will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. next Saturday, Jan. 18, where it will take on Patriot League foes Colgate and Lafayette at the Lineberry Natatorium.
