Patriot Games Get Underway Friday

PHILADELPHIA – Not only is the intensity of the service academy rivalry displayed during the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA, it is also evident in the annual Patriot Games.
A five-event competition, the Patriot Games feature cadets from the United States Military Academy and midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy. Competition for this event will begin on Dec. 13 and conclude before the 114th Army-Navy Game on Dec. 14.
Students from each academy are selected to compete in the Patriot Games, an event that highlights not only physical prowess but also mental as well. A winner is determined after each event and the academy that wins the most events is determined the winner.

Participants from the U.S. Military Academy include seniors Chance Carrick from Howell, N.J., Teddy Fong from Fremont, Calif., and Jeff Ferebee from Primm Springs, Tenn., juniors Hannah Metheny from Stafford, Va., Logan Pearce from North Royalton, Ohio, and Roberto Huie from Bronx, N.Y., sophomores Catherine Sedy from Poulsbo, Wyo., Angelica Dickson from Covington, La., and freshmen Tom Newton from New Albany, Ohio, and Andrew Matos from Lithia, Fla.
The Navy squad includes senior Matthew Riloff from Richboro, Pa. and Samantha Newhaller from Tampa, Fla., juniors Justin Knisley from West Chester, Pa., and Lindsay Rheiner from Wycombe, Pa., sophomores Joseph Cirillo from Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Jennifer Coletta from Nashua, N.H., and Daniel Thompson from Temecula, Calif., and freshmen Daniel Chmura from Wilbraham, Mass., and Bleu Strong from Calument Park, Ill.,
Patriot Games
Friday, Dec. 13
8:30 a.m. The Rocky Relay will be held on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on 26th and Ben Franklin Parkway where speed and strength will be tested running the steps.
10:00 a.m. The Leadership Reaction Course will be at the Independence Visitor Center on Market Street between 5th and 6th. Leaders will receive a mission, brainstorm and execute it under a time restraint.
12:00 p.m. The Pull-Up Challenge is set for The Shops at Liberty Place on 16th and Chestnut Street and will be held in conjunction with the Pep Rally.
3:00 p.m. The final event of the day, the Tug-of-War, is a ticketed event at the USS New Jersey Battleship in Camden, N.J.
Saturday, Dec. 14
1:15 p.m. The last event is the Stadium Obstacle Relay at Lincoln Financial Field with the competition concluding before the teams take the field for warm-ups.
In addition to the game lead-up and Patriot Games, a bevy of activities are planned for game day itself.
Fans attending Saturday’s game are encouraged to visit the Army-Navy Social Media Hub within HeadHouse Plaza at Lincoln Financial Field. Photo and Twitter contests and scavenger hunts will be conducted within Army-Navy FanFest and around the stadium on game day.
Following the game, flip-cam coverage of the many events surrounding the game will be provided by players, cadets and midshipmen as well as fans that submit clips.
Facebook albums and Pinterest boards will be built during the game as well with fans encouraged to submit their photos for inclusion throughout the day. Fans can interact at @Army_Navy_Game as well.
