Army Increases Social Media Offerings
September 05, 2012 | General
Army has announced the creation of a Social Media Rewards program and expanded handles on Twitter to better serve its loyal fans. In addition, Black Knights Today, a three-times-a-week blog, will also be added as another avenue for supporters to stay up-to-date on all of their favorite athletes, teams and coaches.
The Social Media Rewards program remains the centerpiece of Army's new enhanced social media platform. The innovative program will track fans' use of Twitter and Facebook and offer prizes for those who retweet, like and comment on posts concerning the Black Knights most ardently.
The program will encourage fans to engage in all of Army's social media platforms and reward those who do so with the greatest regularity with a host of prizes.
Black Knights Blog will be posted in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and provide in-depth and behind-the-scenes updates from around West Point, while allowing fans to comment, something previous versions of Army's daily blog did not provide.
Army is now on Instagram as well at ArmyBlackKnights, and fans can access and share photos while commenting.
Army's footprint on Twitter is also expanding. While @ArmyAthletics will continue to be the main feed for major announcements in Army Athletics, each team will also have a handle allowing fans detailed information, inside access and an opportunity to interact. ArmyAthletics will focus on news, links and other information concerning the athletic department, while sport-specific handles will carry in-game updates and detailed sport-specific content.
Army continues to add content to its mother site as well. Army's official web site, goARMYsports.com continues to house updated news including rosters, schedules, game notes, feature stories, video links and Knight Vision among a host of other offerings.
Army's official Facebook page at facebook.com/ArmyBlackKnights will continue to have exclusive "behind the scenes" content, polls and information about upcoming events, giveaways and prizes.
You can find the Black Knights on Pinterest (pinterest.com/armyathletics) as well with photos, contest and much more.
Army's YouTube page (youtube.com/armyathletics) is a great alternative for those seeking video on mobile devices.
The Black Knights' enhanced Social Media initiatives will begin to launch later this week.
