Black Knight Blog - Tuesday, Sept. 6
September 07, 2010 | General
Good morning all and thanks for checking in today on this post-Labor Day Tuesday! Tracy Nelson with you this morning. You would never know that yesterday was labor day in our office. Nope, it was Monday of game week as to be expected. Working in sports information, you learn to relish the summertime because that's when days off are a reality. That doesn't happen during the competitive seasons, but I also look at the flip-side and realize I get paid to watch and work around sports. It's a trade-off that I'm willing to make!
If you aren't already aware, which I would find very hard to believe if you're a BK Blog reader, head coach Rich Ellerson and the Black Knights opened the 2010 season with a 31-27 win at Eastern Michigan last Saturday night. I spent the evening watching the game on the ITT Knight Vision board from Hoffman Press Box at Michie Stadium. Community members and plenty of happy, football-playing children made their way out to Blaik Field to take in the game. All-in-all, it was a great event and was capped off with a down-to-the-wire finish. If you haven't had a chance to read about the game, here's a link to Gunny's game story, complete with stats and post-game notes.
For those of you interested, Navy posted a 17-14 loss to Maryland yesterday afternoon in Baltimore.
Army opens the home portion of its schedule this Saturday against Hawai'i at noon, so let's hope for the same result. With a few changes happening in our office, I've been charged with doing the change pages for all five home game programs. One thing I quickly noticed looking up and down the Hawai'i roster is that they have quite a few large boys available. Plenty of 300-pound-plus listings, so I'm just hoping they are really, really slow!
Speaking of game programs, it's time to get this thing off to the printer and put my first one in the books! That'll do it for today (sorry a rather short one), but Mady will be at the keyboard tomorrow with what will surely be a riveting entry as always.
GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!
