Wednesday, Sept. 22 - Scouting The Opponent
September 22, 2010 | General
A good Wednesday afternoon to everyone. Brian Gunning back with another edition of the Black Knight Blog.
We're only three days away from the football team's trip to Duke this weekend. The Black Knights and Blue Devils will kick off at 3 p.m. The game is not televised, but can be seen on the internet at www.espn3.com. The service is free, however your internet service provider must be a subscriber. Visit espn3.com to find out all the details. The service is available on college campuses and military bases throughout the U.S.
If you can't get the web cast and are looking for a place to watch the game, head over to Michie Stadium. We are hosting another viewing party with the web stream shown live on the ITT Knight Vision video board. We did this for the opener at Eastern Michigan and from all accounts, a good time was had by all. Concessions will be available, but sorry, no food on the turf.
Coach Ellerson gave his thoughts on the Duke game at yesterday's press conference so I thought I'd check out what the folks in Durham had to say about this weekend's matchup. While the Black Knights are coming off a 24-0 win over North Texas in the team's first home shutout since 1993, Duke suffered a 62-13 defeat at the hands of top-ranked Alabama. The team came out of the game with the Crimson Tied healthy, and you can bet that the Blue Devils will be ready to go on Saturday afternoon.
With a little help from the Google machine, here are some links that should give you a better insight into the happenings in Blue Devil-land this week.

In addition to the football game on Saturday, it's a big Army-Navy weekend here at West Point. The men's soccer team will open Patriot League play against the Mids at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at Clinton Field, while the golf team hosts Navy on Sautrday and Sunday at the West Point Golf Course. The two-day dual match utilizes Ryder Cup scoring to determine the winner.
A shout out to the volleyball team for their West Point Challenge tournament victory. Included in their three wins during the event was a 3-0 sweep of service-academy rival Air Force. It was the first meeting of the 2010-11 season between Army and its academy brethren. The Black Knights will try to build on last weekend's success when they open the defense of their 2009 Patriot League title at home versus Lehigh on Friday at 7 p.m. The squad hosts Lafayette at Gillis Field House on Saturday at 3 p.m.
One last reminder ... tomorrow's "This Week in Army Football" radio show featuring Rich DeMarco and Coach Ellerson will be held at Torches restaurant in Newburgh. The show is back at the First Class Club next week.
That's it for today. There are still plenty of other things on the to do list before we get on the plane for North Carolina.
GO ARMY!
