Happy Monday to everyone, Pam Flenke on the keys this morning on the first day of another busy week here on the Hudson.
I'm just about a month and a half into my time here at West Point and I'm learning quickly that the fall season is certainly the busy season around here. I experienced my first football home game ever (after coming from a college that had no football) which was pretty awesome. We had a perfect sunny day with what I'm told were ideal temperatures - I wouldn't know given my day is spent in the sub-zero press box keeping stats/attempting to not catch hypothermia.
Despite the loss it was a great experience, especially learning that our color commentary for CBS College Sports is done by none other than former Giant Jason Sehorn. As someone who bleeds blue, it was certainly among the highlights of my first football Saturday. I also am still a little bitter that no one in the office informed me that he would be there, despite my outspoken Giants fandom. Then again, it was a pleasant surprise on an early Saturday morning.
Aside from prep work to get ready for Saturday's football game vs. North Texas, there are plenty of other things on the schedule for this week.
Tracy and I are mentally and physically preparing for hosting another volleyball tournament this weekend. I got my first taste of a nine-game tournament just a couple weeks ago, which is nine more volleyball games than I had been to in my life. Now I think I call dig-set-attack in my sleep thanks to Tracy's fantastic (and patient) tutelage. Army is hosting the West Point Challenge featuring Buffalo, Hofstra, Bryant and Air Force with action starting on Friday at 10 a.m. For the complete 10-game schedule, click here.
For the first weekend since their season started, men's and women's cross country is traveling on Friday. The two teams are getting split between the Iona Meet of Champions and the Manhattanville Invite. After hosting their first two meets (the Army Open and the Cornell Dual Meet), head coach Troy Engle has trimmed what was a rather extensive roster to start the season, down to his elite runners, so look for the final roster and media guide to come out this week!
Hope everyone has a great week and we look forward to seeing you at football and/or volleyball this weekend!
