Why did you decide to come to West Point? What were some of the deciding factors? Who or what influenced your decision?
I came to West Point because it presented the best opportunity available. West Point offered a chance to challenge myself in many ways and set my self apart from my peers. The baseball program had been very successful and the guys on the team were great on my recruiting trip.
What does it mean to you to be able to play baseball at West Point?
Playing baseball at West Point is a huge honor and an incredible opportunity. It presents additional challenges to regular cadet life, but the experience of being on such a close team makes the time and effort more than worth it.
What is the best thing about being an athlete at West Point?
The best thing about being a cadet athlete is being around your teammates. You make the closest friends of your life and share so many amazing experiences.
What is the most difficult thing?
The most difficult thing is managing your time. Academics, practice, competition, traveling, and maintaining a healthy personal life all take a great deal of time. Once you figure out how to prioritize the competing demands life gets much easier.
What is your fondest memory at West Point?
-In sports?
Serving as the Army Baseball Team Captain
-Outside of sports?
The class dance weekends (Plebe Parent Weekend, Yearling Winter Weekend, 500th Night, Ring Weekend)
What adjustments have you had to make since arriving here?
-Socially
Learning to make the most of the opportunities I get to do something with my friends. Seeing new cities has been great too.
-Athletically
Playing baseball almost year round taught me the importance of getting better everyday. College athletics is far more competitive and challenging than high school.
-Academically
Learning to manage my time and identifying classes that I needed to focus on.
What do you enjoy doing during your "down time"?
I like to catch up on sleep, talk to my girlfriend, and watch movies
What is your major and what is the most interesting thing you've learned here?
My major is Engineering Management. I have enjoyed learning how the different engineering disciplines come together to complete a project.
Which branch are you planning on entering following graduation?
I am going to be an Infantry Officer and my first duty station will be Ft. Carson, Colorado
What is the best thing about being a cadet at West Point?
Knowing that I am making the most of my college years, and developing into the best person and leader I can be
