Why did you decide to come to West Point? What were some of the deciding factors? Who or what influenced your decision?
My decision to come to West Point was purely my own. My parents allowed me to make the decision and I decided to go with what felt right for me through my official visits. I liked everything that West Point had to offer, and I thought it'd be a wise move for later on in life. However, the biggest selling point for me was Dr. Nathan Zinsser down in the Center for Enhanced Performance. His presentation sold me on West Point and I still see him to this day.
What does it mean to you to be able to play lacrosse at West Point?
It's been the culmination of my lacrosse career. I couldn't have asked for a better way to go out but playing at the highest level of lacrosse. The great traditions within the program and all the guys I get to play with every day make it the best end to my playing career I could ask for.
What is the best thing about being an athlete at West Point?
The best thing about being an athlete at West Point is being able to play games in front of the great fans we have at West Point. My most memorable experience has been playing in front of thousands of people and alumni against Navy in Raven Stadium last season and I can't wait to do it again this year.
What is the most difficult thing?
The most difficult thing is the time crunch. Trying to find time to do all the same work for class, put in time in the company, and play lacrosse is very tough to do and excel at here at West Point but it is what makes getting to the end of it all mean that much more.
What is your fondest memory at West Point?
-In sports?
Playing in front of thousands of people here at Michie Stadium and beating Navy in 2008 for the first time in over a decade.
-Outside of sports?
Being afforded the opportunity to go to Germany for CTLT for a month.
What adjustments have you had to make since arriving here?
-Socially
Trying to keep in touch with friends and family with the busy and hectic schedule took a huge adjustment to keep everyone involved and find time for everyone.
-Athletically
In the weight room. It's where I've made my biggest strides in bettering myself and it has helped and shown out on the lacrosse field. It was somewhere I never really went in high school.
-Academically
Managing my time was the biggest challenge and it is something that I have gotten very good at, to the point where I can now get to bed early and have all of my work done for the next day.
What do you enjoy doing during your "down time"?
I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies and hanging out with my friends here and at home.
What is your major and what is the most interesting thing you've learned here?
My major is Operations Research, and the most interesting things I've learned were in my Capstones in both Systems Engineering and Math, where I was able to put all of what I've learned to good use and apply them to real world problems.
Which branch are you planning on entering following graduation?
I branched Aviation.
What is the best thing about being a cadet at West Point?
The best thing about being a cadet at West Point is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of your Firstie year. When I got my ring and branch, it gave me a chance to reflect on how West Point has changed and prepared me for what lies ahead in my future and gives me an appreciation for West Point as an institution even though I may have cursed it throughout my time here.
