Jonathan Evans joined the Army Athletic Association in October 2010 as its deputy athletic director after spending the previews four years as an associate athletic director at the College of Charleston. At Army, much of Evans’ focus will be on strategic planning with an emphasis on development and long-term ventures.“It is truly an honor to be joining the Army Athletics family,” Evans said upon his hiring. “I look forward to working with the exceptional cadet-athletes, coaches and administrators at West Point. West Point's mission of developing leaders of character is inspiring and I am thrilled to be a part of such an outstanding institution.”
In addition to the aforementioned duties, Evans will also serve as the sport supervisor for Army’s golf, men’s tennis and women’s tennis teams.
Evans served as Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs at the College of Charleston beginning in October of 2006. In that position, Evans oversaw fundraising, marketing, ticketing and event management. He served as the sport supervisor for the men’s tennis team.
Evans’ primary function was to build and expand the revenue streams for the department through charitable donations, sponsorship and ticket sales. He also managed multiple aspects involved in the construction and move into the $45 million state-of-the-art Carolina First Arena in 2008.
Prior to joining the College of Charleston, Evans worked at the University of Maryland where he was the Associate Athletics Director/Executive Director of the Terrapin Club overseeing an organization with 8,500 members and over
$10 million in annual donations. Prior to his time at Maryland, Evans served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development at Bucknell University and spent five years working at the University of California-Berkeley in various fundraising and ticketing capacities.
Evans began his career as a marketing intern with both the New York Mets and Appalachian State University. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. He later earned a Master's Degree in Sport Management from Appalachian State University.
