Friday, Oct. 1 - Rain, Rain, Go Away
October 01, 2010 | General
Good morning Black Knight fans and welcome to this Friday edition of the Black Knight Blog. Tracy Nelson at the controls today on this very rainy, windy day in the Hudson Valley. Here's to hoping the rain disappears in time for tomorrow afternoon's football game vs. Temple at Michie. It's Homecoming weekend around here and rumor has it that Michie will be packed come kick-off.
Head coach Rich Ellerson has the Black Knights off to a 3-1 start this season and the team is coming off a big 35-21 victory down at Duke last Saturday in Durham, N.C. Turnovers were huge in that contest and they paid dividends on the scoreboard in favor of the visiting Black Knights. Click here for a complete game recap, notes, photo gallery and all that jazz.
One thing that coach Ellerson has harped on all week is the physical play that Temple will bring on Saturday. They are easily the toughest test for Army so far this season. He talked about it at Tuesday's press conference and again at last night's This Week In Army Football radio show. Not only has Ellerson hit on Temple's talent, but so has captain Stephen Anderson through his blog entries. If you haven't been following along with Anderson's blogs, you definitely should be. He's not a man of many words, but he really has done a great job in conveying the team's spirit and will to win each week. He makes me want to line up with him! Click here to read Steve's latest entry.
One person I know will be keeping a close watch on Saturday's football game will be Army volleyball head coach Alma Kovaci. She's a 2002 Temple grad and is very anxious for Army to steal a win over her alma mater. Kovaci will have to follow along on CBS College Sports - or perhaps through my in-game blog - to keep up with the action.
The volleyball team left yesterday afternoon for one of its toughest tests to date as the Black Knights take on American and Navy during a brutal Patriot League weekend. The defending champion Black Knights are 2-0 in Patriot League thus far, having defeated Lehigh and Lafayette last weekend. Friday night's game, which will be offered via webcast through AU Eagles Vision, will be a rematch of the 2010 Patriot League Championship match. Meanwhile, Army and Navy will do battle for the "Star" on Saturday night. Army has won eight "Star" matches in a row heading into Saturday's tilt. The Mids will offer an online broadcast - a first for volleyball - through Navy All-Access.
It's hard to believe that October is upon us. Does everyone have their Halloween costumes ready to roll? I'm definitely a last-minute costume-creator and I regret it each and every year. I saw on the news this morning that the top three costumes for females this year will be Snookie, Lady Gaga and Katie Perry. This gives me plenty of ideas ... must start tanning tomorrow.
I'll keep you posted on my selection later this month. Happy Friday all, and enjoy the weekend!
GO ARMY! BEAT EVERYONE!
