Why did you decide to come to West Point? What were some of the deciding factors? Who or what influenced your decision?
Before I was recruited I was initially applying for an ROTC scholarship to Virginia Tech. My brother was a cadet there when I was in High School and I admired him greatly since I was a little girl. I decided to go to West Point because I fell in love with the campus during my recruiting trip and also the officers, cadets, coach, and few others were very welcoming. Unlike my other recruiting trips West Point kept in close touch with me and made me feel comfortable.
What does it mean to you to be able to play tennis at West Point?
It was my plebe year when a couple of my team mates and myself traveled to Maryland for a tennis tournament at University of Maryland, and it was during that trip I realized what a honor and privilege it was to attend this academy. I remember the tennis head coaches from Maryland came up to me, whom I knew for a while since I lived in Maryland most of my life, told me how much he admired me for what I am doing and respects my decision.
What is the best thing about being an athlete at West Point?
I believe that it is a challenge but also rewarding because it pushes our limits. Every year you grow a little bit more and discover more a little bit more about yourself.
What is the most difficult thing?
Time management
What is your fondest memory at West Point?
-In sports?
When we won the Patriot League my plebe year.
-Outside of sports?
Going to Florida with two of my teammates my plebe year during Spring break.
What adjustments have you had to make since arriving here?
-Socially
I learned not to judge quickly on the outside and because of that I met a lot of wonderful people.
-Athletically
I have learned how to managing my time to work out before or after tennis practice, especially since West point is physically demanding with the APFT, DPE classes, and IOCT.
-Academically
During my homework each night is important especially since West Point follows the Thayer method. Also learning to use my weekend to get ahead of some classes.
What do you enjoy doing during your "down time"?
I enjoy going out with my girl friends.
What is your major and what is the most interesting thing you've learned here?
International law is my major and the most interesting thing I have learned here is the American legal system.
Which branch are you planning on entering following graduation?
I am hoping for AG.
What is the best thing about being a cadet at West Point?
You learn a lot about yourself and make friends that will feel closer than blood.
