Army West Point Athletics

Busy Wednesday For Army's Athletic Association
July 02, 2009 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. It was a busy Wednesday evening for members of the Army Athletic Association and a few head coaches.
Women’s volleyball coach Alma Kovaci, men’s tennis coach Jim Poling and rifle coach Ron Wigger spent a couple of hours during the “Coaches Caravan” at the Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston, N.Y., while representatives were also at the Hudson Valley Renagades game at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, N.Y.
The events are part of the Army Athletics Association outreach program that enhances fan relationships as well as informs fans about the high caliber athletics being played at West Point.
At the third “Coaches Caravan,” Kovaci, Poling and Wigger answered questions, posed for photos, signed autographs and offered specials on football tickets. Working in conjunction with Radio Disney 1390-AM, the coaches also manned the prize wheel and cheered on some young fans as they demonstrated proper technique on push ups.
The Army Athletic Association has also partnered with Dutchess Stadium and the lone professional baseball team in the Hudson Valley. Wednesday night, representatives answered questions, offered football tickets and conducted a raffle for four tickets to the fans who braved a two-hour, 42-minute rain delay.
Representatives from Army athletics will be available at selected home games this year to allow fans to purchase football tickets and answer questions about the Black Knights. The Army Athletic Association is also slated to be at Dutchess Stadium on July 16, August 4 and August 23.
The next “Coaches Caravan” is scheduled for July 7 from noon to 2 p.m. at Kids Camps at the Galleria in Middletown, N.Y.
