Army-Akron Kickoff Time Set
September 08, 2008 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. ESPN, Inc. and the Army Athletic Association announced today that Army’s game against Akron on Sept. 20 will begin at 1 p.m., with kickoff tentatively scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
Thanks to an exclusive five-year, multi-media agreement reached with ESPN in the spring of 2005, all of Army’s home football games and select neutral-site games in which Army is the home team through 2009 will be televised by either ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic or ESPNU. All kickoff times are set between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and determined 12 days prior to each contest.
The Black Knights’ game against Akron will be televised nationally by ESPN Classic. It will mark the third of nine scheduled television appearances for Army this fall. Seven of those telecasts are scheduled for national broadcast.
In the last 13 years, 47 Army games have been televised nationally, 14 via network television. The Black Knights have been televised live to a national or regional audience 75 times during that span. Since the 2003 season, 45 of Army’s 57 contests have been televised nationally or regionally (79 percent). By contrast, Army had never appeared on national television more than three times in any given season prior to 1995.
Tickets to all Army games, are currently on sale at the Army Ticket Office or online at www.goARMYsports.com. Fans wishing to purchase tickets over the phone by credit card can do so by calling 1-877-TIX-ARMY.
