Holtz Completes Athletic Communications Staff

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The Army Athletic Communications staff is now complete with the arrival of Jon Holtz, who will serve as the athletic communications assistant for the 2007-08 academic year.
Holtz will serve as the primary media relations contact for the Black Knights’ men’s and women’s cross country, sprint football, men’s tennis, and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field programs.
Holtz, a native of Shortsville, N.Y., comes to Army after earning a bachelor’s degree in English at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania.
While at Mansfield, Holtz served two seasons as a sports information assistant, including last season where he was the primary contact for the school’s women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field and women’s basketball programs. Holtz also served as the secondary contact for football, baseball, and men’s basketball while acting as the head statistician for all sports.
As a student-athlete, Holtz ran middle-distance for the Division II Mountaineer teams for four years, serving a two-year stint as captain of the men’s cross country and track and field teams during his junior and senior years.
He was named the 2007 Bill Esposito Memorial Award winner by ECAC-SIDA and was recognized at the annual ECAC-SIDA Workshop in Baltimore, Md., this past June. The award was established to honor excellence in young professionals entering the field.
Holtz is single and resides at West Point.
