Volkmann Joins Athletic Communications Staff

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army Athletic Association added another talented member to its communications staff on Thursday with the hiring of veteran publicist Tim Volkmann.
A highly respected professional within the collegiate athletics industry, Volkmann will work directly with Army's men’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, wrestling and swimming & diving programs, while also serving as a secondary contact for football.
Volkmann comes to West Point after spending two years as the Coordinator of Sports Communications at the University of Rhode Island. He served as the men’s basketball contact for the 2005-06 season and was also the football and women’s basketball contact for the 2006-07 season in addition to his other duties within the 22-team department.
Before his time at URI, he spent six years as the Assistant Director of Sports Communications at Springfield College, including two stints as Interim Director. He also completed a master's degree in athletic administration at Springfield in the spring of 2004.
Volkmann was named the Sports Information Director at SUNY Oneonta for the 1998-99 season after serving as the publicist for the State University Of New York Athletic Conference in 1997-98.
Volkmann is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. He was the Editor-In-Chief of the student newspaper, The Dragon Chronicle, and also completed an internship in the Red Dragon Sports Information Office during his senior year.
