Assistant Athletic Director/"A"Club Director of Annual Giving
After spending over three years as an assistant director of athletic communications at Army, Tim Volkmann took over as the "A" Club Director of Annual Giving in August 2010.
Volkmann worked directly with the men’s lacrosse, men’s soccer and swimming & diving programs, while also serving as a secondary contact for football and wrestling during his time in Army's athletic communications office. In May 2008, he gained the title of Director of Media Event Management, making him responsible for coordinating media relations operations for any championship events held at West Point.
Volkmann came to West Point after spending two years as the Coordinator of Sports Communications at the University of Rhode Island. He served as the men’s basketball contact for the 2005-06 season and was also the football and women’s basketball contact for the 2006-07 season among his other duties with the 22-team department.
Before his time at URI, he spent six years as the Assistant Director of Sports Communications at Springfield College, including two stints as interim director. He also completed a master's degree in athletic administration at Springfield in the spring of 2004.
Volkmann was also named the Sports Information Director at SUNY Oneonta for the 1998-99 season after serving as the publicist for the State University Of New York Athletic Conference in 1997-98.
Volkmann is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. He was the Editor-In-Chief of the student newspaper, The Dragon Chronicle, and also completed an internship in the Red Dragon Sports Information Office during his senior year.
A native of Fairport, N.Y., he currently resides in Highland Falls, N.Y.
