The Army Swim Camps feature a progressive system of skills and drills that are focused on perfecting the basics of competitive swimming in an easy-to-understand format. In addition to swimming instruction the campers will learn about nutrition, motivational goal setting, dryland training, taking their swimming to “the next level” and much more. Come take part in this one-of-a-kind experience. Cost is $475 per overnight camper ($395 per commuter), ages 10 and older, previous swim experience required.
Camp Director- Mickey Wender is the Head Coach of Men’s and Women’s swimming at the United States Military Academy. Coach Wender has 15 years of experience as an NCAA head coach. He has coached every level from summer league to international level athletes and has coached swimmers to the NCAA Division I Championships in every event. Coach Wender’s innovative and energetic coaching style has led him to a 208-64 win/loss record. He has also produced a best-selling instructional video series.
Camp Facilities Pool sessions will be conducted in Crandall Pool located in Arvin Gymnasium. Crandall Pool is one of the finest facilities on the East Coast and has been home to NCAA Championships, Eastern Seaboard Championships and Patriot League Championships.
Campers will have the opportunity to experience the Cadet atmosphere during their stay at the historic United States Military Academy at West Point. Campers will be housed in the dormitory rooms. They will be four (4) to a room and cots & beds will be used. Meals will be served cafeteria style in Eisenhower Hall.
Roommates A limit of three roommates per camper can be requested. Once received and processed they cannot be changed.
Cost Our full, over night rate is $475 per camper. There is also a day-camp rate of $395, which will enable a camper to join the camp routine at the time of our morning training session; lunch and dinner are included in the day-camp rate. All campers will be provided a cap and camp T-shirt.
A non-refundable deposit of $300 must accompany your application form and a place will be reserved for you on first come, first served basis. Checks should be made payable to: ARMY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. Remaining balance must be pre-paid three weeks prior to camp registration along with health and waiver forms.
Medical Parents and/or guardians must make sure each camper has passed a physical examination within one year of attending our camp. Each camper is covered by a group accident policy, which supplements your claim beyond personal insurance only. A certified trainer is present at all times, and Keller Army Hospital is located on the premises for all emergencies. Four (4) copies of the health form, signed by a physician and four (4) copies of the waiver must be submitted three weeks prior to the start of camp. If the medical forms are not received the camper will not be able to participate until received.
Camp Guidelines
1. Each camper must bring his/her own shoes, shorts, shirts, training gear, goggles, swim suit, bedding (sleeping bag), pillow, pillowcase, towels and soap. Please also bring a SWIM bag, which can be used to carry gear from place to place during the daily routine! Do not bring anything sharp (scissors, knives) to camp. They will be taken away. ALL LUGGAGE AND BEDDING WILL BE INSPECTED BY CAMP STAFF UPON ARRIVAL!
2. Registration will be from 1 3 PM on Sunday July 8th, July 15 and July 22nd at the dorms.
3. The first meal will be served Sunday evening. Camp will conclude after the morning swimming session has been completed at Crandall Pool on Thursday at 12:00PM.
4. All campers who enroll will be subject to attend all sessions and comply with all the rules and regulations governing conduct of the camp participants. Any violation or abuse of these rules and regulations will result in immediate dismissal without refund.
