Army To Unveil Revamped Athletics Web Site Monday Evening
August 28, 2006 | General
WEST POINT, N.Y. A fresh look, streamlined navigational elements and enhanced premium audio and video streaming content are among the list of improvements that will be unveiled at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, when the Army Athletic Association debuts its newly redesigned Web site at www.goARMYsports.com.
The redesign is the result of two months of cooperation between the Army Athletic Association and its new internet service partner, XOS Technologies, which assumed control of the Black Knights web hosting responsibilities on July 1. This will mark the third site redesign in the past six years, and second since November 2004.
Upon downloading the site, fans will immediately notice a new banner featuring the Black Knights’ logo, along with rotating photos heralding the athletic program as well as the beauty, pageantry and tradition of the United States Military Academy. In addition, a new color scheme, site layout and navigational elements will be instantly apparent.
For longtime visitors to goARMYsports.com, the basic elements of the site will remain in place, with releases, game recaps, notes, statistics, schedules, previews and photo galleries continuing to serve as the informational foundation of the site. In addition, links to the Army “A” Club, ticket office, summer camp schedule and online store will retain their highly visible spots on the site.
Headlining the new features is “Knight Vision,” a premium content area that will include live audio, streaming video and archived pay-per-view audio and video vignettes. This section is a more robust version of Army “All-Access,” the subscriber-based premium content portion of the Black Knights’ Web site last year.
Another focus of the redesign is to showcase Army’s marketing, sponsorship and promotions efforts. Thus, a special tab box off the site’s front page will contain updated marketing and promotions data to keep fans abreast of upcoming events, giveaways and other customer-based initiatives. There will be other links contained in the site’s sleek new navigation system to direct the public to Army’s burgeoning fundraising and sponsorship opportunities.
To capitalize on Army’s rich athletics heritage, the Athletic Association has compiled a large cache of audio and video elements that capture many of the finest accomplishments in the Black Knights history. Upwards of a half-dozen of these items, featuring archived radio calls along with video highlight reels, will be offered each month on a pay-per-view basis.
Throughout the weeks following Monday’s re-launch, athletic department personnel will be continually upgrading goARMYsports.com by adding additional informational elements to bolster the site’s usefulness and appeal.
