Nusbaum was an honorable mention in All-American in 1966 and is one of five Army golfers to receive that honor. In 1967, he led the team to the NCAA Tournament as the team finished with a 12-1 record. Throughout his three seasons, Nusbaum's teams went 35-6 with two wins over Navy. He competed twice in the U.S. Open upon graduation. He also received the Horton Smith Award in 1978 for contributing the most to the education, training and development of PGA members.
