Located next to picturesque Michie Stadium, the Holleder Center is home to West Point's Tate Rink and Army's hockey team. Construction on the 131,000-square foot building was completed on Oct. 1, 1985. Administrative offices for the Army athletic facilities staff, the hockey coaches, the Army Ticket Office as well as an athletic training room, are located in Holleder Center.

Tate Rink (capacity - 2,648) continues to attract fans in record numbers while providing the Black Knights with a comfortable home-ice advantage. Since their debut in Tate Rink, a 5-0 win over Ryerson on Oct. 25, 1985, Army has enjoyed much success. The Black Knights have carved out a home record of .500 or better 21 times since the 1985-86 inaugural season and boast of an overall winning percentage of .559 in front of the hometown faithful.

Many loyal fans have come out to Tate Rink in each of the past 35 seasons to support the Black Knights hockey team. In 1996-97, the Black Knights set a third consecutive attendance mark, attracting 42,929 fans, surpassing the previous mark of 42,565 established in 1995-96. The all-time single-game attendance record for Tate Rink is 3,147, established in 1988-89 when Army edged Rensselaer, 4-3. The Black Knights hosted back-to-back-to-back sellouts in 2019-20. Army fans witnessed three wins in the three-straight sellouts, including a nine-round shootout victory against service academy rival Air Force.

The ice in Tate Rink is serviced by a direct liquid-refrigerant circulation system operated by two 68-ton defoggers for dehumidification. The competitive ice surface is 200 feet by 90 feet. Recent renovations to the rink include: brand new ice surface and state-of-the-art refrigeration unit installed in the summer of 2002, new dasher boards complete with kick plates, a Daktronics scoreboard, installation of 32 television-quality lights with 600- and 1,000-watt settings and installation of a Double-Ply, Low-E ceiling.

While the ice surface and fan seating areas are top-notch, Tate Rink has several other amenities that make it one of the best rinks in the East. A three-tiered press box includes a camera deck for television and radio broadcasts. In addition to the bulk of their home games being broadcast on at least one radio station during recent campaigns, the Black Knights have also enjoyed their share of television exposure from national television networks such as College Sports Television (CSTV) and regional networks like Yankees Entertainment Sports Network (YES).

Seating within the rink is comprised of chairback seats, fixed bench bleachers, standing room areas and handicap accessible platforms. All seating is close to the ice, giving the rink a cozy feel that continues to make it one of the most popular rinks on the East Coast.

In addition to providing an exciting atmosphere for watching a hockey game, the Tate Rink and Holleder Center facilities also provide comfortable accommodations for the Black Knights' players, coaches and administration.

The hockey players dress in a spacious locker room, which was dedicated as the Major Thomas Kennedy "TK" Locker Room on Jan. 27, 2018, located in close proximity to the ice surface. Adjacent to the locker room is the Holleder Center athletic training room, used exclusively for hockey and basketball.

The team recreation room, donated by David V. Harkins '62, a three-year letterwinner for the Black Knights, overlooks the ice surface. The room is equipped with large sofas, a big-screen television and stereo system complete with Bose surround sound speakers. It provides the cadets a perfect spot for team functions and meetings, or simply as a place to relax before and after practice.
