Minato led the Black Knights in scoring during each of its three Patriot League Tournament contests, including a 25-point effort in the 69-51 title-game win over Loyola on March 12.
With the win, Army earned the Patriot League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will face Syracuse in Syracuse, N.Y., on Friday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. The matchup between the No. 4 Orange and the No. 13 Black Knights will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
Brewer made the smallbore finals in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. He shot a 583 to make the finals where he ultimately placed seventh with a score of 401.8 among the group of eight to qualify.
It came down to the last shot for Brewer to even the make the championship round. The young shooter was the last individual on the range and needed to shoot a bullseye to earn his spot in the final eight. Brewer made the shot he needed to and closed the second station of standing with a 99 score.
Brewer was the only individual invite to make the final eight and one of only three freshmen to do so.
It was the first time since 2012 Army had somebody qualify for the smallbore finals. Kelly Buck, an All-American as a senior that season, finished fifth.
