Barse was a four-year standout, twice being named to the All-Patriot League First Team (1993-94). She was a fundamental piece in the volleyball program winning the Patriot League Championship in three consecutive years (1991, 1992, and 1993). In 1993 she was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. At the time of her graduation in 1994, she was the program's all-time leader in kills with 1,364, now third, and was also the leader in digs with 1,378, now fourth. From 1992-94, Barse helped Army reach an impressive 20-1 record in Patriot League play.
