Dick Nowak earned three varsity letters in football and served as team captain of Army's 1963 squad. An offensive guard and nose tackle, Nowak was a second-team All-America choice by both United Press International and the American Football Coaches Association in 1963. He was also a third-team Associated Press All-America selection.
An Associated Press/United Press International All-East honoree in 1962 and 1963, Nowak was selected to play in the 1964 Hula Bowl.
A two-time Hammond Award winner as Army's top lineman, Nowak contributed to 19 victories during his three seasons along the banks of the Hudson.
Nowak served in Vietnam as a forward observer and battery executive officer. He later became trustee and director of the West Point Association of Graduates.
