Cassalia Receives AWPAA Athlete of the Week Recognition

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Due to her exceptional performance, junior Sydney Cassalia was named the Army West Point Athletic Association Athlete of the Week.Â
Cassalia, who hails from Omaha, Neb., recorded back-to-back shutouts in the team's 1-0-1 week with nine saves. She is riding a five-game unbeaten streak as the team secured a Patriot League Tournament berth with one game remaining in the regular season.
The junior boasts five shutouts this season and 20 in her career. She has a 7-5-4 record in 2019.Â
The 20 gives her sole possession of third-place in Army's record books for career shutouts, while in the Patriot League Cassalia cracks the top-10. She also ranks fourth all-time in minutes played (5,010)
The junior made four saves on seven shots faced in the 0-0 tie on Wednesday. She one-upped herself on Saturday with five saves on 10 shots faced to total nine saves on the week.Â
