Army Announces Fall Golf Schedule
July 10, 2018 | Men's Golf
2018-19 Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point head golf coach Chad Bagley released the program's 2018 fall schedule.
Â
The team will participate in four tournaments across the country as well as head-to-head competitions at the Bush Cup and the Army-Navy Star Match.
Â
"We are very excited for this year's fall schedule," Bagley said. "We have a great opportunity to compete at the home events of Northwestern and Alabama. The Bush Cup at Trinity Forest will be special as well, and we're very excited we get to host the Army-Navy Star Match in September. We'll conclude the fall with a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Kauai, Hawaii, to compete in the University of Hawaii's Princeville Warrior Makai Invitational."
Â
The Black Knights will first travel to a familiar course in Hamilton, N.Y., for the Colgate Invitational on Sept. 8-9. The event will be played at the Seven Oaks Country Club. Â
Â
Army takes a week off before returning to action on Sept. 23-24 at the Windon Memorial Classic. This tournament will be held at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
Â
Up next will be the highly anticipated Army-Navy Star Match in West Point, N.Y., on Sept. 29-30. The Black Knights won the star in thrilling fashion last year over rival Navy. Nick Turner displayed true toughness and character after playing the last four holes knowing that the match all came down to his finish. He didn't flinch and birdied two of his last four holes. The Reno, Nev., native then hit a huge putt on the 14th hole to square the final match before helping Army move on to victory.
Â
Army's opening event in the month of October will be the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate, which will run Oct. 8-9. That event will be played at the Old Overton Club in Vestavia Hills, Ala.
The Black Knights' next competition will be the Fourth Annual Bush Cup against SMU. The event will be played at the Trinity Forest Golf Course in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 18. The head-to-head competition will kick off with the formal dinner the night before competition begins.
Â
To wrap-up the fall, the Cadets head to Kauai, Hawaii, for the Warrior Princeville Makai on Oct. 28-30. The tournament will be held at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.
