May 07, 2018 | Baseball
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point baseball team closes out its regular season on Tuesday with a game at Albany.Â
The Black Knights and Great Danes will face off at 3 p.m. on Varsity Field.Â
Army is coming off a 3-1 weekend in which it secured a share of the 2018 Patriot League title. With those victories, the Cadets reached 30 wins for just the seventh time in program history. It ties for the sixth-most in a single-season.Â
The Black Knights also closed out their Patriot League slate, finishing with a mark of 18-7. Those 18 conference wins matched a program record, which was first achieved during the 2012 season.Â
Senior Jon Rosoff is leading Army and is third in the league with a .339 batting average. He sits second in the conference with 41 runs batted in, while his 59 hits place him fourth.Â
Sophomore Jacob Hurtubise still leads the nation in stolen bases after swiping two over the weekend. He now has 36 for the year.
Mike Gagliardi has been Army's go-to midweek pitcher. The righty holds a 3-0 record in 22.2 innings on the mound.Â
Albany is 18-20 on the year and 8-10 in America East play. The Great Danes took one-of-three games against UMass Lowell over the weekend. They have currently dropped four of their last five games.Â
Leading the Great Danes offense is Patrick Lagravinese, who holds a .293 batting average. Ironically, he will be Tuesday's starting pitcher for the home side. On the mound he has a 7.04 ERA with an 0-1 record in 7.2 innings on the hill.
