Army-Navy Star Meet

Army Edged Out by One Point in Star Meet
April 07, 2018 | Men's Track and Field
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's track and field team was just edged out by rival Navy in the annual outdoor Star Series meet.
Â
The meet was held at West Point, in Shea Stadium. Despite 11 first place finishes, the Black Knights lost by just one point to the Mids, 101-102.

Coach's Quotes:
"That's as close as we've been in a while. On the men's side, we got what we wanted. We got 11 wins, that's more than half of the events. It's similar to what happened on the women's side, we don't have enough seconds and thirds to back that up. But we had a chance to win and that hasn't happened in a long time. So I'm proud of the guys for getting that close."
Â
"We go home with a loss, but eventually we are going to win. We just have to keep working at it. It's a hard thing to stomach, but I think they will learn they are capable of that if they just keep persevering. It's hard for the seniors I know, but they did a lot of winning today. If you look at those kids, what they did was great.
Â
"It was a good meet. There were quite a few meet records today and that's because both teams are getting better and it makes for a very exciting competition. It was exciting to the last event. So, I look forward to seeing what we can do with the rest of the season. This is painful, but they will have the resolve to move forward. I like our competitive effort today and I like the marks that we put up."
